Buy a domain only to point at a hosting package (name servers), you have to point NS, often looking like ns1.hosting.com, and ns2.hosting.com but use the name servers your hosting has provided you with. Your domain name should then point to your hosting package, and you should be able to start creating your new website within 10 minutes to 24 hours. It can take this long to propagate the name servers. Some people can not wait that long!
